Govt To Extend Deadline For Low Ash Coal Use

The government will be extending the deadline for mandatory utilisation of low ash coal by power generation companies.

The environment ministry notification last year had made the use of coal with less than 34 per cent ash mandatory from June this year.

Official sources said that as Coal India Ltd (CIL) and the power generation units could not finalise the modalities of implementation of the environment ministry notification,
