Every divisional head quarter in the state will have a super speciality hospital if minister for health and family welfare U T Khader succeeds in getting funds allocated from chief minister Siddaramaiah who also holds the finance portfolio. Khader who visited the district civil hospital in Dharwad on Wednesday said the Congress government was keen on improving the medical facilities in the government hospitals and to ensure best medical service to the poor and needy, the super speciality hospitals will be mooted. He said a proposal would be submitted to chief minister with a request to earmark necessary funds for the project in the budget to be presented in the session commencing from July 12.
Khader said the poor and middle class were undergoing hardship unable to meet the increasing medical expenses and hence the move to set up hi-tech hospitals providing service at affordable price.
The State government will also open pharmacy at every district hospital in the first phase to make available the medicines at subsidised price.

In the second phase, such pharmacy will be opened at taluk and hobli level, the minister informed.
A zonal level health officials' meeting would be conducted and a proposal comprising of immediate infrastructure, medical equipments and manpower would be forwarded to Chief Minister.
Referring to the infrastructure at the district civil hospital Khadar stated that there is a demand from the hospital authorities to demolish the TB ward and Isolation ward which are in a dilapidated condition.
However, District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad has appraised that this is a historic hospital and hence instead of demolishing the ward, it would be feasible to renovate the ward. The doctors have been directed to send a fresh proposal regarding the infrastructure needed and medical equipments so that funds could be allocated in the upcoming budget, he noted.
