Gujarat govt allots 70 acres land to educational institutes

IIIT gets lion share, at 50 acres in Dumad in Vadodara district; other institutes across state get the rest

Gujarat govt allots 70 acres land to educational institutes

Continuing to dole out incentives in rural and tribal areas, Gujarat government on Thursday announced that it has allotted 70 acres land to the various educational institutes in 13 districts across the state. The allotted land can be used to develop building, play ground, hostels and for other development.

According to an official statement, by providing the land, the state government intends to develop education related facilities mostly at the tribal areas.

"Improvement in facilities within educational institute premises will support to serve quality education in the state," said Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.

Of these, the state government has allotted 50 acre land to Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Dumad village of Vadodara district. Rest of the land has been allotted to various educational institutes and trusts in other districts including Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, Patan, Banaskantha and Amreli.
