Himachal clears projects worth Rs 3,400 crore

In a significant move the Himachal Pradesh government has cleared a mammoth Rs 2,400 crore solar panel project among seventeen other industrial proposals aimed at bringing in a total investment of Rs 3,400 crore in the state.
Solaryan Tech Private Ltd, an Indo-Norwegian company, will set up a Rs 2,400 crore facility for manufacturing thin film silicon solar panels of 200 Mw capacity every year in two phases.
Indorama SPL group, an international textiles group, proposes investing Rs 400 crore at Baddi, said a spokesman of the state government. The company will set up a spentex unit and will manufacture synthetic yarn.The unit will produce sports garments, dress materials including women's innerwear.
Once fully operational, the Indorama plant will produce 6,000 tonnes of synthetic yarn at the Basddi unit. The company is the second largest producer of synthetic yarn in the world and already has a unit in Nagpur.
The Indonesia based company has a sizeable equity by Indonesians of Indian origin. The state level single window clearance and monitoring committee which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Friday also cleared several other projects.

The cleared projects include well known corporate houses like Pidilite Industries, Meditech Garments, Advantage Organic Naturals Technologies and Crew BOS products.
The state government is also considering giving powers to the Director of Industries for the benefit of investors who can apply for permission of land under Section 118 on behalf of the approved industrial units so that the investors can start work on their projects sooner.
"The government will soon issue notices to investors whose projects had been cleared but had not set up their units," Dhumal said.
The special industrial package announced by the Centre in 2003 expires in early 2010.
"So far the industrial package has attracted proposed investments of over Rs 30,000 crore," Dhumal said.
