The state government has asked the officials to end the process of bidding for construction of a 23 storied general purpose iconic building, to be built at a cost of Rs 169.54 crore, in Bhubaneswar by January.
In a recently held meeting, chief secretary, J K Mohapatra directed the authorities to complete the bidding and contract award process by next month for the proposed state-of-the-art structure, named as 'Ekamra Tower'.
The tower will be built by a joint venture between Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board and the state-owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco). The proposed building will come up on the Khadi Board land premises on Janpath.

The state government had earlier sought Expression of Interest (EOI) for selection of architect-cum-consultant for the building and in the process ABIN Design from Kolkata was selected as the consultant.
The concept plan has also been approved by the state government. The total built-up area of the tower will be 6,62,000 sq ft, as per a preliminary estimate.
Meanwhile, short-listing of firms for execution of the work has already been taken up and so far, five construction engineering firm having expertise in implementing national and international projects have offered to take part in the bidding process.
