The piped cooking gas distribution in Hyderabad would begin in two months. It would start from Shamirpet and then extended to other parts of the city through an integrated gas grid.
Petroleum, Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) chairman L Man Singh on Wednesday met chief minister K Rosaiah and other officials.
PNGRB officials said four districts — Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda and Khammam — had been included for bidding to develop city gas distribution networks. Already, city gas distribution for Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada and Rajahmundry had been awarded and the work was on.
The Andhra Pradesh Gas Infrastructure Corporation requested the PNGRB to take up trunk line between Kakinda and Kolkata so that the distribution network could be laid in Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam, a release said.
