State revenue collection up 10% in Apr-June

However, downtrend noted in mining and land revenue

The Odisha government reported 9.76% growth in its revenue collection in  both tax and non-tax segments in the April-June period of this fiscal. Total revenue in this period stood at Rs 4832.04 crore as against Rs 4402.44 crore posted in the corresponding period of 2012-13.

The tax collection was boosted mainly in areas like state excise, stamps and registration, sales tax and taxes on goods & passengers.

State excise grew from Rs 140.53 crore to Rs 166.77 crore in the period, registering growth of 29.05%. Similarly, taxes on goods and passengers was up 22.93% at Rs 338.20 crore.

Sales tax rose 11.75% from Rs 1767.85 crore to Rs 1975.52 crore while collection from stamps & registration increased from Rs 140.53 crore to Rs 166.77 crore, a growth of 18.68%.
 

However, downtrend was noted in case of mining revenue as well as land revenue. Mining revenue collection of Rs 1290.55 crore was 1% lower than Rs 1303.36 crore achieved in the same period of last fiscal. Land revenue slumped 28.93% at Rs 66.54 crore compared to Rs 93.63 crore in the same period of 2012-13.
