Streamline logistics of perishables further to boost farmers' returns: CII

Access to credit remains a challenge for food processors while tractor makers face liquidity crunch

Despite the relaxations and packages announced for the farm sector following the Covid-19 lockdown, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in a report on the sector said that logistics of perishables commodities such as fruits and vegetables could be further streamlined to ensure remunerative return to farmers who have seen sharp drop in demand due to lockdown.

It said labour availability and access to credit remains a challenge for the country's farm sector.
