The Tamil Nadu government has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the development of a 500-Mw solar park in the state through solar power park developers (SSPDs).

This is in line with the Centre's plans to achieve 20 Gw of installed capacity in solar power in the span of five years. The state has an installed capacity of 1,702.40 Mw of solar energy, out of 10,479.61 Mw of renewable energy capacity as on May 31, 2017.
