Trade policy validity extended

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has extended the validity period of the current Foreign Trade Policy, which was to expire on March 31, 2009. 

The policy, which was introduced by the current UPA government with effect from April 1, 2004, will now be valid till further notice. 

The new central government that takes charge next year after the General Election, will decide whether or not to continue with the existing policy.
