The Central Board of Secondary Education board exams for Class 12 began on 5 March (Monday). The CBSE Class 12 examination began on March 5, 2018 with the last paper slated on April 13. More than eleven lakh students are appearing for the Class 12 exam and over 16 lakh candidates for the Class 10 exam.
Recently it was reported that the copies of the Accountancy paper of Class 12 were leaked at around 9.45 am on Thursday going around on WhatsApp and social media since. It was rumored that the Board was all set to cancel Thursday's Accountancy exam. The authority at CBSE soon formed a panel convened to investigate the issue and may decide whether the exam needs to be withdrawn altogether.

The issues became more intense when Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia tweeted about the alleged leak, asking the officers of the Directorate of Education to look into the matter. He tweeted: Received complaints about the Class 12 CBSE Accountancy paper being leaked. Have asked officers of Directorate of Education to investigate and lodge a complaint with CBSE. Swift action must be taken, so that hard-working students don't suffer due to negligence of CBSE.
‘Fake News’
The Board today completely dismissed the alleged paper leak calling it as ‘Fake News’, stating that all the seals were checked thoroughly and found to be absolutely intact. The Board is of the opinion that there are anti-social elements making attempts to play mischief by circulating messages. "During process of exam, however, at local level some miscreants have tried to play mischief by circulating messages through WhatsApp & social media to disturb the sanctity of examinations. CBSE has decided to take strict action against such activities. FIR is being lodged by CBSE," CBSE said in a statement.
