The Narendra Modi wave may be sweeping the country but its impact is seen to be minimal in Naveen Patnaik's Odisha where trends project the regional satrap's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) securing handsome numbers to form the government.

The BJD was seen leading in 78 assembly seats with the principal Opposition party Congres trailing way behind at just 20 seats. The BJP which had bagged just six seats in the 2009 polls, may improve its tally with the latest projections favouring 13 seats in its favour.

For the Parliamentary constituencies as well, the BJD has an impressive lead with 13 seats with the Congres and BJP lagging at three and two seats respectively.

Most of the BJD's stalwarts including party supremo Naveen Patnaik and senior leaders S N Patro, Damodar Rout and Pravat Tripathy were leading their opponents.

But some party heavyweights like Prasanna Acharya and A U Singhdeo are finding the electoral battle tough this time with trends showing them to be trailing.
