Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat on Friday said the paper slips of the voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) will be counted and tallied against the votes cast on the electronic voting machines (EVMs) at one polling station in every assembly constituency in states where elections are currently underway.

VVPAT generates a paper slip containing the details of the voter and the party he or she voted for besides displaying the details on the computer screen for few moments in order to make voters doubly sure of EVM functioning.
