Financial Services Secretary Hasmukh Adhia has said the selection of non-executive chairman in the remaining six public sector banks (PSBs) will be completed "in the next three months". The post of managing director and chief executive officer at two other PSBs would also be filled "as early as possible". The performance-linked bonus to top officials would be made more "generous" from the current Rs 8 lakh, the financial services secretary said, adding the government might allow PSBs to recruit mid-level staff on their own. Currently, they can hire on a contractual basis.
Finance minister Arun Jaitley said banks were extremely keen on campus recruitments, but there were legal difficulties.
