Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki Calls on Dr Jitendra Singh

The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Nabam Tuki called on Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Space and Atomic Energy, here today. This was the first meeting of the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister with Dr Jitendra Singh after the latter took over the charge of DoNER Ministry. The Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Ramesh Negi and other senior officers from the State also accompanied the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister gave a brief resume of the various ongoing projects in his State and sought Minister's urgent help in two of the projects involving construction of a new Civil Secretariat Building and a new Legislative Assembly building at Itanagar. He also urged the Minister to take up the proposals for setting up a new Stadium and a Civil Airport at Itanagar.

Assuring all possible support to the project of Civil Secretariat Building, even though costing around 128 crore, Dr. Jitendra Singh promised to see that the State Government is able to meet its target of having the new Civil Secretariat building by the month of February.

Regarding the construction of Legislative Assembly building in Itanagar Dr Jitendra Singh said that work is already in progress but the pace of work is slow .He assured that it would be expedited.

Dr Jitendra Singh further informed that around Rs.106 crore have already been earmarked for the ongoing projects in Arunachal Pradesh. The new projects like Sports Stadium and the Airport, the matter will have to be taken up with the Union Finance Ministry, he added.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the understanding and diligent handling of the DoNER Ministry by Dr Jitendra Singh. In response, Dr Jitendra Singh urged upon the Chief Minister to ensure that the State sharing investments in various projects do not get unduly delayed because in that case the 10% allocation marked for NE from the budgets of the union Ministries also remains unutilized.
