Fingerprints of criminals
Central Finger Print Bureau (CFPB) under National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has been maintaining a National database of more the 10 lakh ten-digit finger print records of specified categories of criminals. The Government has in-principle agreed to the proposal of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for taking finger print data in the cloud of National Informatics Center (NIC) and the procurement of upgraded application software for Automated Finger Print Identification System (AFIS). This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary in written reply to a question by Shri S.Selvakumara Chinnayan and Shri P.R.Sundaram in the Lok Sabha today.
