Logistic Efficiency Enhancement Programme

A proposal to initiate a Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP) and Vehicle Fleet Modernization Program (VMP) to improve Indias logistics efficiency is already under consideration in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India (MoRTH). LEEP and VMP are expected to support the Make in India initiative and significantly raise Indias Logistics Performance Index (LPI) score in the World Banks ranking.

The Government of India has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the NHAI Technical Assistance Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for undertaking a consulting assignment to design the LEEP and VMP programmes. The procurement process for the appointment of consultant has been initiated and a consultant is likely to be appointed by January, 2016. The duration of the study to design the programme is 32 weeks, after which the programme shall be launched, as feasible.

This information was given by Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
