Talent Search in Sports

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the Government is considering a proposal to launch a scheme known as National Sports Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS) under which it is proposed to identify sporting talent among students in the age group of 8 to 12 years and to nurture them so as to enable them to participate in National and International sports events, win medals and bring laurels to the country. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today he said, this proposal is at a conceptual stage at present. Therefore further details cannot be provided at this juncture. As on date there is no proposal to make sports as a compulsory subject at primary school level.
