Incubation centres seem to be catching the fancy of business schools in the country as a way to promote entrepreneurs. After the premier management institute Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) set up the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship , Mudra Institute of Communications-Ahmedabad (MICA) is all set to get its innovation and incubation centre in the form of a Comcubation centre.
MICA’s centre of excellence, Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) is in the process of setting a first-of -its-kind Comcubator, an incubation centre specifically for communications sector. The department of science and technology has provided Rs 4 crore for the project.
“The department of science and technology has already approved Rs 4 crore as funds for the centre. The centre aims to commercialise and nurture ideas and innovations of the managers with potential to be entrepreneur. The incubation centre will now be converted into a full-fledged centre for the students to sit and work on their innovations ,” said a senior faculty at MICA.
Besides promoting innovations, the comcubator will enhance the concept of entrepreneurship in the communication sector. MICA-EDC is an initiative of MICA, set up with the support of the department of science and technology. The institute has also commenced an Entrepreneur Mentorship Network to support and cater to entrepreneurial initiatives in various areas.
