Cardamom prices rose by Rs 7.50 to Rs 797.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by tight supplies in the spot markets amid rising demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose by Rs 7.50, or 0.95% to Rs 797.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 207 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June gained Rs 4.40, or 0.58% to Rs 765.50 per kg in 370 lots.

Traders said tight stocks in the spot markets on restricted supplies against pick-up in demand mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
