Commodities firm up in foodgrains market

A firm trend prevailed at the wholesale foodgrains market here, with prices of commodities led by urad dal posting gains during the week ended today.

Prices of moong dal, wheat, maida and sooji also went up, while that of other commodities remained unchanged.

Urad dal and moong dal prices rose by Rs 400 and Rs 200 per quintal over their previous week's closing rates to Rs 7,400 and Rs 9,200 respectively.

Opening the week at Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,600 per 90 kg, wheat and sooji gained Rs 100 each to close at Rs 1,600 and Rs 1,700 respectively.

The price of maida rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1,500 per 90 kg from last week's closing. Thoor dal, sugar and wheat held steady at the previous week's closing rates.
