Copper down by 0.1% on profit booking

Profit booking and low domestic demand affected the prices of copper

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid sluggish spot demand and profit booking by speculators, copper prices fell marginally by 0.11% to Rs 464.35 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by 50 paise, or 0.11%, to Rs 464.35 per kg in business turnover of 69 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November traded lower by 65, or 0.08%, to Rs 453.85 per kg in 1,891 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures mainly due to profit booking and low domestic demand even as metal strengthened in the global market on post-holiday demand from China, the top consumer.

Meanwhile, copper traded a shade higher at 7,250 dollar a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
