Industry body presses govt for regular iron ore supply

To avoid long term shortage of downstream products like steel pipes, thanks to drastic production cuts by hot-rolled coil producers, the Federation of Industries of India (FII) has urged the mines ministry to ensure regular supply of iron ore to them.
Warning about its long-term affect on the overall industrial growth, FII secretary general H L Bhardwaj said, “The government should immediately intervene and help save the downstream steel-consuming industry from the crisis by maintaining regular iron ore supply to plants to avoid a serious setback to growth in housing and infrastructure sectors.”
