Jeera futures prices fell by 0.59% to Rs 14,658 per quintal today as speculators reduced their positions due to subdued demand in the spot market, amid high supplies.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for July delivery declined by Rs 87, or 0.59%, to Rs 14,658 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,284 lots. It had lost 0.11% to close at Rs 14,745 per quintal in the previous session.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery lost Rs 88, or 0.58%, to Rs 15,060 per quintal, with a business turnover of 19,041 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to subdued demand in the spot market against higher supplies, mainly kept pressure on the jeera futures prices.
