L&T gains on winning Rs 3,700-cr new orders

The company's building and factories business has bagged orders worth of Rs 1,986 crore for the construction of residential towers and commercial development across India.

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) is trading higher by 2% at Rs 1,418 after the company said it has secured new orders worth of Rs 3,700 crore across various business segments in March 2013.

“The company’s building and factories business has bagged orders worth of Rs 1,986 crore for the construction of residential towers and commercial development across India. The power transmission and distribution business has secured new orders worth of Rs 1,097 crore,” L&T said in a press release.

The solar business unit has won new EPC orders worth of Rs 373 crore for the construction of solar PV plants in Rajasthan and Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, while additional orders worth of Rs 244 crore have been bagged from various ongoing jobs in the infrastructure and metallurgical and material handling business, it added.

The stock opened at Rs 1,400 and hit a high of Rs 1,420 on BSE. A combined 696,037 shares have changed hands on the counter so far on BSE and NSE.
