Piramal Enterprises gains on plan to buy US pharma firm

The company plans to acquire Kentucky-based Coldstream Laboratories for $30.65 million

Shares of Piramal Enterprises were up nearly 2% at Rs 847 after the company said it plans to acquire US based speciality pharmaceutical firm.

The company in a release today said it is in the final stage of discussion with the University of Kentucky for the potential acquisition of Coldstream Laboratories Inc., for a total consideration of $30.65 million.

Of this, $5.65 million would be towards the Coldstream facility on the Research Park Campus of the University, while the rest would be towards purchase of the company's shares, the release added.

The stock opened at Rs 839 and touched a high of Rs 863. At 13:50PM, over 93,000 shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
