Sensex flat in early trades; HDFC moves up 2%

The Sensex opened on a flat note at 13,717 - up 24 points. The index is now down three points at 13,689.

HDFC has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 2,222. Tata Steel, Maruti, ITC and ICICI Bank are up 1% each at Rs 491, Rs 708, Rs 195 and Rs 606, respectively.

Satyam has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 328. Sterlite has shed 1.8% at Rs 479.

Infosys and Bharti Airtel have declined 1.4% each to Rs 1,502 and Rs 799, respectively.

Grasim, TCS and Reliance are down around 1% each at Rs 1,911, Rs 705 and Rs 2,028, respectively.
