Sensex slips after a +ve start; Sterlite gains 3%

The Sensex opened 89 points higher at 8,535 backed by a bounce back in banking stocks. The index, however, has pared gains and slipped into red. The index is now down 10 points at 8,436.
Sterlite has surged over 3% to Rs 253. Tata Motors has gained 2.5% at Rs 147.
ICICI Bank and DLF have rallied over 2% each to Rs 290 and Rs 151, respectively.
Tata Steel, ACC and Jaiprakash Associates have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 160, Rs 550 and Rs 67, respectively.
Ranbaxy has dropped 2% to Rs 156. HDFC has shed 1.6% at Rs 1,143.
Tata Power and ITC are down 1% each at Rs 667 and Rs 172, respectively.
