Sensex up 287pts; ICICI Bank zooms 10%

The Sensex is now up 287 points at 12,833. The NSE Nifty is up 76 points at 3,927.

ICICI Bank has skyrocketed 10% to Rs 542. TCS has zoomed 8.3% to Rs 671. HDFC has surged 7.5% to Rs 2,185.

BHEL has gained 7.2% to Rs 1,618. Jaiprakash Associates has moved up nearly 6% to Rs 113.

Bharti Airtel has surged 5.5% to Rs 788. SBI is up over 5% at Rs 1,476. Maruti has advanced 4.8% to Rs 694.

Larsen & Toubro and NTPC are up 4.7% at Rs 2,455 and Rs 174, respectively.

Satyam has added 4.4% to Rs 305. DLF has inched 3.7% to Rs 364.

 

Reliance Communications, HDFC and Reliance are the other major gainers today.

Tata Motors has tumbled 3.7% to Rs 343, while Tata Steel has declined 2.7% to Rs 433.

Grasim is down 2.3% to Rs 1,692. ITC has  shed nearly 2% at Rs 187.

Hindustan Unilever has lost 1.9% to Rs 250.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,630 stocks traded so far, 1,289 have declined, 1,255 have advanced and 86 are unchanged.
