In mixed pattern of trading, wheat and rice basmati remained under pressure with prices and declined by up to Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today, while other grains moved up on increased demand.
Traders said sluggish demand against adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts mainly pulled down select wholesale grains prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell further by Rs 5 to Rs 1,165-1,170, while wheat deshi lost Rs 50 to Rs 1,600-1,750 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,180-1,185 per 90 kg. Maida and sooji also declined by Rs 30 and Rs 50 to Rs 700-730 and Rs 750-770 per 50 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati Pusa-1121 and basmati common varieties fell by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,300-5,300 and Rs 5,400-5,500 per quintal, respectively.
Permal raw and wand lost Rs 25 and Rs 50 to Rs 1,825-1,875 and Rs 2,000-2,100, respectively. Sela and IR-8 shed Rs 25 and Rs 50 to Rs 2,100-2,150 and Rs 1,700-1,725 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, Bajra and Barley shot up by Rs 50 and Rs 200 to Rs 1,010-1,020 and Rs 1,300-1,305 per quintal, respectively. Jowar yellow and white moved up by Rs 50 and Rs 25 to Rs 1,050-1,120 and Rs 1,850-1,895 per quintal, respectively.
