In a letter to Human Resource Development Minister M.M.Pallam Raju, Arunachal Pradesh Member of Parliament Takam Sanjoy has said that his state is the only state in the North-East where almost all schools, both private and government-run, are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Considering this fact, Sanjoy said that the Centre should seriously consider establishing a new CBSE regional office at Itanagar to cater to the needs of both students and schools.
He said that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has been demanding the establishment of a CBSE regional office at Itanagar for some time.
"Other states of the North-East are having either their own state boards or ICSE affiliated, including Assam. However, the Regional Office of the CBSE has been functioning at Guwahati since for the last many decades," Sanjoy said.
He added: "Under these circumstances, I would like to request you to kindly expedite establishment of Regional Office at Itanagar or arrange to shift the present Regional Office from Guwahati to Itanagar at the earliest possible time.
