Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to announce that Britain will accept thousands of Syrian refuges as a major migrant crisis engulfs Europe, according to reports.
According to The Washington Post, the announcement by Cameron comes amid growing calls for his government to show greater moral leadership in countering the refugee crisis.
There have been increasing calls for the UK to take in more refugees after the pictures of a dead three-year-old boy was shown being taken away by an army soldier from a beach in Turkey.
Cameron pledged said that Britain would fulfill its "moral responsibilities", and that "as a father", he was deeply moved by the image of the dead child.
