The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the implementation of 15 building projects under the Delhi Police Building Programme Scheme, with an estimated cost of Rs.723.77 crore during the 12th five-year plan.

The objective of the scheme is to provide adequate housing for Delhi Police and to improve its efficiency level by providing regular police stations, other office buildings and residential facilities.

Delhi, being the national capital, is expanding at a rapid pace. This has resulted in the growth and expansion of new residential as well as commercial areas. To cop up with the new challenges relating to law and order, traffic and security, the strength of Delhi Police has also been substantially augmented.

Accordingly, there is a need to provide proper office and residential accommodation for an efficient and motivated police force.

Presently, 182 Police Stations are functioning in Delhi. Out of 182 Police Stations, 111 Police Stations are regularly functioning from departmental buildings and the remaining are either in rented accommodation or temporary structures or Police Post buildings.
