Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal has said the Centre has approved the setting up of 30 new cold chains in the country at an investment of over Rs. 700 crores.
The minister also said that out of the 138 integrated cold chain projects, 108 were sanctioned earlier, while remaining 30 were sanctioned on Monday.
She said these projects are aimed at reducing the wastage of food. These 138 cold chain projects are expected to add 4.76 lakh tonnes of storage capacity and 118 lakh litres per day milk processing capacity.
