China's First Lady Peng Liyuan has been named among the best dressed in Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed 2013 list.

A Chinese magazine's headline read 'Peng Liyuan Upends Michelle Obama', whereas an unidentified Chinese blogger wrote that 'She is the mother of the country', after the publication announced the names, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Though the US First Lady did not make the cut for the high-fashion magazine's "International Best-Dressed" list, for the second consecutive year, some in the US fashion orbit saw Obama's omission as a misjudgment.

The New York-based Fashionista blog wrote that there were "more than a few snubs" on the list, but that "the biggest would probably have to be Michelle Obama".

This is the second time China has seen their First Lady to be named as best dressed by Vanity Fair with as Soong May-ling titled 70 years ago.
