The Central Government on Tuesday said it was closely monitoring and coordinating amongst intelligence agencies at the Centre and state levels to contain activities of terrorist organisations.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, while replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, said the Multi Agency Centre (MAC) has been strengthened and reorganised to enable it to function on 24x7 basis for real time collation and sharing of intelligence with other intelligence agencies.

Informing the House that India has joint working groups on counter terrorism with 24 countries, Rijiju said the meetings of these joint working groups are being held from time to time to discuss counterterrorism issues, including ISIS phenomenon.

The minister said the government had, so far, banned 39 terrorist organisations.
