Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has indicated that his party's doors remain open for an electoral alliance with the Congress Party for the 294-seat West Bengal assembly elections to be held next year.

Talking to mediapersons a day ahead of his party's Plenum, to be held till December 31 here, he said the BJP was already in some understanding with the Trinamool Congress, as was evident in the last parliamentary elections.

Yechury also said that too many aged leaders holding various posts was one of the problems the CPM was facing at present.

The Plenum would look into the issue, he added.
