Delhi Police gun down criminal in city restaurant

A criminal was shot dead by the Delhi Police in an encounter at the Sagar Ratna restaurant in city's Old Rajender Nagar market on Saturday night.

"Our officer received information that a criminal, who is wanted in many cases, had come to Sagar Ratna. So [he] came here and identified the criminal. The inspector caught him but in the meantime, he took out a pistol and [in the ensuing] scuffle, he was shot dead," said Special Commissioner (Special Cell) SN Shrivastava.

The deceased, identified as Manoj Vashishtha, was wanted in several cases of fraud and other crimes.

Following the shoot-out, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
