There were no major upsets at the US Open tennis tournament being played at Flushing Meadows on Day 4 except that fourth seed Sara Errani was forced to exit the tournament early.

British qualifier Daniel Evans knocked out Australia's Bernard Tomic and France's Adrian Mannarino showed the door to America's Sam Querrey.

Roger Federer made short work of Argentina's Carlos Berlocq, beating him 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 in the end.

Italy's Sara Errani went down to compatriot Flavia Pennetta in a shock upset.

However, Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Kirilenko, Sabine Lisicki, Janko Tipsarevic, Caroline Wozniacki and Rafael Nadal, all eased into the next round,

Victoria Duval, the girl who knocked out past champion Sam Stosur, lost to Daniela Hantuchova in a one-sided affair.
