Ex-NBA player dies in gunfire exchange with police

Tyler Honeycutt, former University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Sacramento Kings basketball player died in an exchange of gunfire with Los Angeles police.

A family member of Honeycutt confirmed ESPN about the death of Honeycutt.

The 27-year-old basketball player allegedly barricaded himself in a Sherman Oaks residence on Friday, following which his mother called the police saying that was acting erratically.

Honeycutt allegedly shot at the police officers when they arrived at the scene and they shot back.

Though it is still uncertain whether Honeycutt shot himself or was shot by the police.

Honeycutt started his career at UCLA and was later drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2011.

 

He played 24 games over two seasons before continuing his professional career overseas.
