Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi has withdrawn from the International Cricket Council (ICC) presidency race, saying that it would be appropriate for some "iconic Pakistani cricketer" to take up that position.
Sethi, the head of PCB's executive committee, made the decision after the ICC advised its members in the previous board meeting to nominate former cricketers for the ceremonial post, reports the Dawn.
The ICC had although suggested that the PCB to nominate a former cricketer in the first place, but Sethi' name was floated after a "consensus" within the board.
