The Jharkhand High Court has adjourned the hearing of a Central Bureau of Investigation plea against the dropping of a conspiracy charge against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav till February 18.

The court had earlier maintained that no person can be charged twice for the same offence, but upheld that legal proceedings in two other sections of the Indian Penal Code would continue against Yadav.

A special CBI court in Ranchi had convicted Lalu and 44 others in September last year in the case related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.70 crore from Chaibasa treasury in 1994-95 in the fodder scam.

He was later granted bail by the Supreme Court in December the same year.
