Former Congress leader DD Lapang to join NPP

Former veteran Congress leader DD Lapang has decided to join the ruling National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya soon.
He made the announcement after Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and NPP state president WR Kharlukhi met him in his office on Tuesday.
The former Meghalaya chief minister told media that he has taken this decision because he could not ignore the request of the people.
Lapang resigned from the Congress party in September. Soon after his resignation, the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) appointed him as Chief Adviser to the government.
