ANI New Delhi [India]

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday fixed the timings - from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. - for bursting crackers on Diwali in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

No one will be permitted to burst crackers before 6.30 p.m. or after 9.30 p.m. in the respective cities.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court also ordered to conduct a draw for giving licences to sell firecrackers.

The High Court has also said that the Police Control Room (PCR) vans would keep a check on flouting of the order.

This comes four days after the Supreme Court restored the ban on the sale of firecrackers till November 1.

The court said, while delivering its order, said it wants to test the effect of the ban on air quality after Diwali.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated across India by bursting crackers, leaving the national capital thick with smoke and pollution.
