Australian fast bowling legend Dennis Lillee has reportedly quit his mentoring job with Cricket Australia (CA) after demanding more money for his services.
The retired Test fast bowler was drafted in to provide guidance and coaching advice to the national side on a part-time basis last year and was instrumental in rejuvenating the career of Mitchell Johnson.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, CA was not willing to meet Lillee's terms to continue his work with Australian pacers, although they added that the door was always open for Lillee, whose CA contract was for just 11 days' work last year, to return.
The report mentioned that Lillee is credited with helping to fix Johnson's technical issues, including his approach to the crease and his arm position, and restore his self-confidence.
It is not the first time Lillee has fallen out with CA over remuneration as in 2004, he quit his post as figurehead of Pace Australia when the governing body refused to meet his demands, the report added.
