Pakistan pace spearhead Junaid Khan has been ruled out of the forthcoming World Cup following his failure to pass a fitness test due to a hamstring injury.
Junaid picked up a hamstring injury in his right leg while practicing during the third day of the national training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium before the team travelled to New Zealand last month.
A Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said that Juniad appeared in a fitness test and was not found fit enough to play the World Cup, the Dawn reported.
Expressing disappointment, the left-arm fast bowler took to Twitter saying that he was sorry and that he couldn't pass the fitness test, adding that perhaps this was God's will and his prayers were with the Pakistan team.
Bilawal Bhatti, deputising for the unfit Juniad in Pakistan's two match series against New Zealand, is expected to be picked up in the World Cup squad.
With Junaid being ruled out of the World Cup, Pakistan has suffered another blow as they would be playing without the services of ace spinner Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Hafeez and injured Umar Gul in the ICC's pinnacle tournament.
