KP not a 'team-man', says ex-ECB boss

Former England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) boss Lord MacLaurin has endorsed the move not to include Kevin Pietersen in the national squad, saying he was never a 'team-man'.

England cricket director Andrew Strauss had revealed last week that Pietersen would not be selected this summer because of "trust issues".

The BBC quoted MacLaurin, as saying that Pietersen had not shown the trust which a person needs to run a team.

The maverick South Africa-born batsman was sacked from the England team following the 2014-15 tour of Australia amid accusations of being "detached from the team", as the visitors suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat.

McLaurin was also critical of Pietersen's form during the 2014-15 Ashes despite being England's top scorer in that series.

Last week, Pietersen had scored a massive unbeaten 355 for Surrey against Leicestershire in a County Championship game.
