The ATP Tour's Mexico Open saw a dramatic development as World No. 2 Novak Djokovic crashed out of the tournament, while Rafael Nadal continued his winning streak and entered the semifinals.

Djokovic was handed a defeat of 7-6 (11/9), 7-5 in the quarter-finals by sixth seeded Nick Kyrgios.

21-year-old Kyrgios blasted 25 aces and won 81 percent of his first-serve points in the one hour, 47 minute match.

Kyrgios will now meet American Sam Querrey for a place in the final.

Nadal, on the other hand, defeated Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka 7-6 (2), 6-3 to reach the semifinals.

The 30-year-old Spaniard overcame a 4-2 deficit in the first set and got out of a 0-2 hole in the second.

Nadal will now face Croatiam third-seed Marin Cilic.
