Legendary Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad has expressed his disappointment over the nomination of Zaheer Abbas for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Presidency, saying that the former Test captain should have been offered a better position in the PCB for the improvement of cricket in the country.

Miandad said that he just felt the PCB has sidelined Zaheer for one year as there was pressure on them to give former greats more responsibilities in the board, the Express Tribune reported.

Although Zaheer would have definitely been honoured by the offered position, a man of his stature and experience might not be the ideal man for this ceremonial position, Miandad added.

Accusing PCB of trying to reduce Zaheer to a ceremonial post, Miandad further opined that the former Test captain would be wasted in the ICC as this ceremonial post has nothing to do with cricket and has called on the government to appoint a better management in organization to improve quality of Pakistan cricket.
