The government has cracked down on pornographic websites in view of increasing incidents of rape and sexual harassments in the country.

The NTA started banning such websites from September 24 acting on the direction by the Ministry of Communications and to ban sharing, distribution and broadcasting port content through any medium. There are over 100 operating in Nepal. Nepal's law mentions pornographic content as illegal.
